Blue Devils Face National Champ In RAFL Showdown

The Brooklyn Blue Devils started their 2010 with a Championship game appearance in the Spring Classic, and their eys are set to getting over the hump in the summer season in the RAFL.  In their path is the 2009 National Champion New Jersey Buccaneers.  The battle of the two premeir teams in the RAFL has the tri state area buzzing as the trash talking began earlier in the week.  Can the Blue Devils knock off the defending champs? We will see.

Fairfield County Ravens “New” Team

The Connecticut Ravens have established themselves in the 3 years of the Spring Classic as a very disciplined and well ran team.  The players that suit up for the Ravens usually go to other teams after the spring is over.. Not so fast! The Ravens are now members of the New England football League.  They will be competing in the A division as a “new team” although in 3 years of competing in the Gridiron Elite Spring Classic they have compild a winning record.  Good luck to Todd Kennedy and the Ravens in their season.

Spartans Road Trip – Learning the Ways of A Champion

Recently the New York partans took a road trip to Boston, Mass to tour some of the facilities that have made Beantown home to so many great sports stories.  The Crimson visited the ”other Crimson” when they toured Harvard Stadium, one of the oldest college football stadiums in the nation.  The Harvard Crimson, defending Ivy League Champs are poised to defend their crown in 2010.

The Spartans also toured behind the scenes at Fenway Park, home to the rival Boston Red Sox.  Although a crew of mostly Yankee fans, the Spartans appreciated the history of the 2nd oldest ballpark in the country along with the tradition and pride that the Bostonians have in their home field.

Last on the tour was Gillete Stadium, home of the 3 time Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots.  Besides trying on the equipment and trying on a Super Bowl ring, the Crimson toured the facilities and got up close to the most recognizable trophy in all of sports.  ”This is what it’s all about” said Defensive End Shawn Kellman (97)  ”The trophy, the championship, the ultimate goal, we want to get one this year.”  For more information on the Spartans and their travels visit www.nyspartans.org.

Punishers Family Day BBQ

Punisher’s go out week in and week out and do battle on the field. Its nice every once in awhile to not be Grid Iron Warriors and be the family men we are. On Saturday, July 17th the Punishers through their family day BBQ! It was a huge success, with kids swimming in the pool, wives playing cards and players telling old Raven battle stories it was a time to remember. There was water fights, food fights and the best bbq man in the world in Coach Jerry. His secret sauce had many licking there fingers and pouring it into cups to take home. “This was the key. The key to unlocking the championship burn, this is the year I really think it is. This is a true team in every sense of the word.” added President Tyrone Beatty as his wife fed him Rice like he was three years old. Thanks to Coach Rodney and his wife Tamika for putting together a great event and we are hoping the next event is just as big and we are celebrating around a championship trophy!

Bandits Support Jamal Davis

A few weeks ago the New York Bandits were involved in a great event and most importantly for a great cause. The football game itself was secondary to anything else as the organization was able to lend their well known name and resources to helping a young man by the name of Jamal Davis.

His story has become something over time that has touched many hearts. Bandits Head Coach Billy Badson “There are moments when I remind myself that he doesn’t have the ability to play the game I love anymore and to help him deal with his life is worth 10 Championship trophies over and again for me. I would personally give back every win, every game played just to see that young man put on his shoulder pads again. So I am extremely proud of our team and their effort and donations to the event. I am proud of our guys, it easy to get caught up as we are all members of the team but its days like this when I wish I could simply say from the highest mountain top that I not only a Bleed Blue but would Bleed no other color.”
