There was a very good feeling that you could sense up and down Gun Hill Road last year.  The Evander Tigers, one of the longest running high school football programs in the nation came so very close to adding a PSAL championship to its long running resume.  As coach Joe Lewis and the boys in orange and black start preparations on their 96th year playing football you can bet that this season will be another to remember.  After graduating a solid core of seniors, the tigers return many players that helped them reach the postseason last year.

Bandits Kickoff 14th Season

dionpassA few things are constant in New York City during the summertime.  These things include hydrants cooling down neighborhood kids home from school, traffic on the Cross Bronx and New York Bandit football.  Coach Badson and Coach Perez have teamed up for over a decade to mold an organization that upon first glance operates on more parts family then any other component.

The defending EFA champs will be defending the league crown for yet another year.  With a solid core of veterans coming back mized in with some new talent it looks as though the Bandits run will not soon end.  ”We pride ourselves on being the best team, regardless of talent or ability we strive to work together to defeat whomever is on the schedule” Coach Badson said.  With another milestone approaching this week in Bandit history, we find the boys in blue going for franchise win number 150.  For semi-pro teams the ability to play 150 games is a marvelous run, but to win 150 puts the Bandits among distinguished company and far ahead of any oter team that calls the Bronx home.  Stay tuned to www.NYBandits.org for more information.
